Glen Schofield, the creative force behind Dead Space, is leading The Callisto Protocol’s development. The game was originally intended to exist within the same universe as battle royale PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, but a recently as last month Schofield revealed the game had developed enough to warrant its own dedicated world. Last month, Schofield took to Twitter to explain:
“The Callisto Protocol is its own story and world. It no longer takes place in the PUBG Universe. It was originally part of the PUBG timeline, but grew into its own world. PUBG is awesome, & we will still have little surprises for fans, but TCP is its own world, story and universe.”
As for this new setting, The Callisto Protocol takes place of the titular Callisto, a moon to celestial giant Jupiter. You jump in as Jacob Lee, an inmate tasked with getting to the bottom of a mystery outbreak affecting the incarcerated population at the Black Iron Prison.
Once again for those at the back, The Callisto Protocol launches on December 2nd, 2022, for PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
