Sideways Showdown Week Arrives With Fortnite Battle Royale Update V20.40

Last Updated:

Fortnite’s patch 20.40 is now live with a host of changes to spice up the gameplay. The highlight of the patch is the Sideways Showdown Week which is now live until May 24, 2022. The Sideways Rifle and Sideways Minigun are out of the vault and you get access to them. You can find these weapons in Chests and on the ground and upgrade them on an Upgrade Bench.

Funding Begins for Shield Bubbles vs Balloons

The Shield Bubbles/Balloons trial period has ended and now it’s time for a fresh vote by the player base. Funding Stations pitting the two items together can be found at all major points of interest on the map. Players can head to a Funding Station and contribute Bars to their preferred choice. The first choice to reach 100% Funded based on everyone’s global contributions will win and enter the loot pool instantly. In addition to the votes, the drop rate of Shockwave Grenades, Rift-To-Go, and Cow Catchers will stay increased indefinitely.

V-Bucks Purchased on PlayStation Will Now Join Fortnite’s Shared Wallet

Starting with the current update, V-Bucks purchased on PlayStation may be used across platforms that support Fortnite Shared Wallet including PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Android, and cloud gaming services. As always, V-Bucks earned on any platform through the Battle Pass, Quest Packs, or Save the World are shared across all other platforms.

Latency Reduction Arrives for Consoles

Epic Games has made performance improvements to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X consoles running in 60 FPS that reduce input latency for players who select “Low Input Latency Mode” in the game’s options. The menu for 120 FPS has also been tweaked to make it easier for players to boost their FPS on consoles that support high frame rates.

In addition to the above changes, the networking options for the Middle East server region have changed. To ensure all players in the region have the best experience, players who manually set their region to the Middle East will now connect to Europe or Asia if they have lower latency in those regions.
