iOS 16 Beta 3 changes: Developer Beta

Last Updated:

The iOS 16 Beta 3 changes were unleashed on those subscribed to the iOS 16 Developer Beta as well as the iPadOS 16 Developer Beta yesterday (on the 6th July, 2022). Below are a list of all the major changes you need to be aware of.

iOS 16 Developer Beta 3 changes

iCloud Shared Photo Library

You can now share your iCloud Photo Library with friends and family members more easily than ever. It’s possible to invite up to five different individuals to share a photo library, allowing each person to add, remove, and edit

iOS 16 Lockdown Mode

Lockdown mode is a feature primarily meant for those in information-sensitive positions that may be vulnerable to targetted cyberattacks: be they government employees, journalists, activists, politicians, or anyone else with a healthy dose of paranoia (justified or not). For most people, the feature will not be worth bothering with, given it heavily restricts a lot of functionality, including attachments to messages, shared albums in Photos, calls from unknown numbers in FaceTime, and many browser extensions and features.

Include Due Today

The Reminders App now has a new “Include Due Today” option within Settings. This means you can see both include both ‘overdue’ AND ‘due today’ items in your daily badge count.

Improved privacy on upcoming Calendar events

When you lock your screen, the events of your Calendar are now blurred out, until the user unlocks the phone.

New Stage Manager splash screen & features for iPad

This change only benefits iPad users, but there is a new splash screen for the Stage Manager feature, plus an updated multitasking menu and tutorials on how to use both.

AFib History

For both ‌iOS 16‌ and watchOS 9 a new AFib History feature (that’s atrial fibrillation history) has been added for those with the condition, which records and tracks the necessary data, assisting in monitoring health. At the moment this is only available in the USA for some reason, though we imagine it will expand to all regions in the near future.

Cosmetic changes

Besides the main functional changes, there have also been some relatively minor cosmetic updates for iOS 16 Developer Beta 3.
