Insta360 ONE RS vs GoPro 10 Side-by-Side Comparison

Just announced, the Insta360 ONE RS is a compelling competitor to the GoPro HERO10 in the action cam space. This upgraded model offers some real improvements and modularity that might make it more worthwhile than the classic GoPro.

It has a 360-degree lens, a 1” sensor option, and a boosted standard lens. It’s a unique product worth checking out if you are a creator in need of a rugged, compact camera for your kit.

To see even more about how the Insta360 stacks up against the GoPro you should watch this side-by-side comparison put together by videographer Luke Edwin.

It is hard to beat the modularity of the ONE RS. It can quickly go from being a standard 4K action camera to a 360-degree camera in no time at all. The ONE RS upgrades the core with better processing, features a bigger battery and will support the new 4K Boost lens mod.

The 4K Boost lens is designed for the usual 4K 60p shooting, but it should perform much better than the original in low-light. The test footage backs this up. When compared to the HERO10 this lens feels a lot more comparable.

Another update is that the camera can do the FlowState image stabilization internally so you don’t need to process it later on. This also puts it just about on par with the GoPro HERO10. An internal HDR setting is available, though I don’t think this does all that much for you.

The RS battery has a 21% higher capacity, which should mean noticeably longer recording times.

Other benefits of the 4K Boost’s 48MP sensor are capturing highly-detailed raw image, 12MP HDR images, and even 6K video. The 6K mode is a bit odd. It forces a crop in to a 2:1 aspect ratio and it’ll only reach up to 25 fps. You also can’t use the in-camera image stabilization.

GoPro does offer some advantages with 5.3K 60p, 4K 120p, and 2.7K 240p. The ONE RS will do 6K at 25p, 4K at 60p, 2.7K at 100p, and Full HD at 200p.

The ONE RS is a decent competitor to the GoPro, especially since it undercuts it on price. The Twin Edition even comes with the 4K Boost and 360 lenses for the same price as just the HERO10. If you need or want both options and the modularity then the ONE RS is the camera to beat.
