Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, AKA the game that makes a global conflict look fun is coming in fall 2022, officially being released on October 28th. CoD fans can now pre order MW2, with two separate editions available – Cross-Gen bundle and the Vault Edition. Pre orders are live across all available platforms (PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC) from a variety of retailers.

Modern Warfare 2 pre order
The build-up to the new Call of Duty never fails to recite millions and with the pre orders for MW2 already being available for all platforms, this is set to be the biggest Call of Duty of all time. When pre-ordering each edition, you will get access to a number of benefits. That means even if you get the standard edition, you will receive a reward regardless.
Modern Warfare 2 editions & pre order price
There are three Modern Warfare 2 editions available to pre order: Standard, Vault, and Cross-Gen. There is also an upgrade available for those on PC/ Digital copies to upgrade from Standard to the ultimate ‘Vault Edition’.
Modern Warfare 2 Standard Edition
When you pre order the Standard edition of Modern Warfare 2 you will simply receive early access to the MW2 open Beta.
Modern Warfare 2 Vault Edition
The MW2 Vault Edition is the ‘ultimate package for the upcoming title, which includes:
- Early Access to Open Beta*
- Ghost Legacy Pack**
- Red Team 141 Operator Pack
- FJX Cinder Weapon Vault***
- Battle Pass + 50 Tier Skips****
Modern Warfare 2 Cross-Gen Bundle
A Cross-Gen bundle gives Xbox One and PS4 players the opportunity to play the game and then upgrade to the higher-performance Xbox Series X/S / PS5 version for free or at a small fee. This is only for players who know they will be getting a next-gen console in the future and includes:
- Early access to Open Beta*
- The opportunity to pre-load the game before launch
For those that purchased the Standard MW2 edition through Steam, you can upgrade to the Modern Warfare 2 Vault Edition for an additional amount of money.
Modern Warfare 2 pre order bonuses – Vault Edition Content
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Vault Edition owners will receive four playable multiplayer operators on day one. This includes Ghost, Farah, Price, and Soap, which are all wearing a special masked outfit themed around the legendary mercenary – Ghost.
Vault Edition owners will also receive the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault. There isn’t much released on this reward but Activision plans to share more information on the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault and the new Gunsmith closer to launch.
Vault Edition owners will receive the Season 1 Battle Pass and 50 Tier Skips (or its equivalent) for free after the release of Modern Warfare 2. If purchased after Season One, that free Battle Pass and Tier Skips can apply to that current season. This will allow you to unlock all the seasonal content you know and love such as:
- Weapon Blueprints
- Operator Skins
- Head start in that Battle Pass through 50 Tier Skips
For those that pre order the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Vault Edition, you will also receive the ‘Ghost Legacy Pack’. That means you will get 20+ free items for Modern Warfare (2019) and Warzone, immediately unlocked upon pre-purchase. The Ghost Legacy Pack includes the following Operator Skins for the Ghost Operator in Warzone and Modern Warfare:
- Jawbone
- Last Breath
- Mandible
- Ghosted
- Reckoner
- Dark Vision
- Classic Ghost
- Winter Theatre
- Dreadwood
- UDT Ghost
- Apparition
- Azrael
The Ghost Legacy Pack also includes these 10 Assault Rifle Weapon Blueprints, all of which are from the same weapon family:
- Oscar Mike
- K2
- The Wages of Sin
- Primis
- Stem the Tide
- White Noise
- Kingly Splendor
- Jumping Spider
- Florin
- The Breakup
If you already own most of these skins/ weapon blueprints, don’t get disappointed just yet. This won’t be the only instant-unlock reward for the current Warzone. Activision plans to release more details soon.
Vault Edition owners will also receive 10 hours of Double XP Tokens and 10 hours of Double Weapon XP Tokens for MW2 ready for use from launch. these will help you level up weapons and prestige.
All MW2 pre orders will receive early access to the open Beta
Modern Warfare 2 Beta access comes to PlayStation first (PS4 & PS5) but will be available for all platforms. The dates and times for the open Beta are yet to be announced but the pre-release version of the game will give you an advanced look into the game’s Multiplayer, including maps, modes, weapons, and other features.
