A steam-powered box factory – FineWoodworking

We think we’re so smart with our battery-powered drills and our 3-hp tablesaws. Ha! The Phillips Brothers Mill and Box Factory in Oak Run, California really has it figured out—they’re powered by sawdust! Sure, it’s not reasonable for us all to switch over to line-drive machines running off of a steam engine, but it sure is fun to watch their operation in action.

Also, it should be noted that this is in fact a working box factory making wholesale and retail boxes since 1898. Pretty cool!
